Huge esport event might bring qualified tech employees to Odense!

Invest in Odense cases

Odense has been chosen to host the offline finals of the ESL Pro League Season 6. The event will run from December 5th-10th, 2017 at the Sparekassen Fyn Arena, a 4,500 all-seated arena, as part of the Odense Gaming Week, a festival organized by Odense Municipality.

ESL Pro League CS:GO is the longest running professional league for Counter-Strike. The twelve best CS:GO teams from Europe and North America will battle it out for a total prize pool of $1 million USD at the Sparekassen Fyn Arena.

“Hosting one of the main esport events in the world is a great opportunity to showcase the city of Odense to a global audience,” says Peter Rahbæk Juel, Mayor of Odense. “In Odense, esport has become an integrated part of our understanding of sports and is perfectly combined with our primary business focus within technology. With this event, we create a unique platform to market Odense as a city at the forefront of creating jobs and modern industries such as drones, IT and our international robotic cluster, Odense Robotics”.

The people participating in and following the ESL Pro League are mainly millennials (18-34 years) interested in science and technology. The growing robotic and IT companies in Odense are looking for new employees with interest in these areas. In order to capitalize on the similarities between the ESL Pro League participants and the jobs offered by companies in Odense, participants are encouraged to take “The Road To Odense”. On they are exposed to the City of Odense and to the available jobs within IT and robotics.

The Job Bank at has had 478 job postings since it was launched in September 2016.
