21 start-up companies pitching within the growing field of robotics, 80 investors and a total of 120 million DKK made up the backbone for this year’s Odense Investor Summit – Robots meet Capital, held at Nordea on the 15th of November, 2017.
Foreign investors from countries including China and Italy and non-local investors from Aarhus and Copenhagen traveled to Odense to participate in the Investor Summit along side local investors, as 21 capital seeking robot- and automation start-ups took turns pitching their products and technology in the attempt to find “smart money”. Afterwards companies and investors had the opportunity to meet up in the bazar to network and discuss the possibilities for future collaboration.
The company RoboBend attended Odense Investor Summit in order to be connected to the strong robotic ecosystem in Odense and to pitch for investors. According to CEO, Thomas Solupajev-Ronlev, it was a very positive experience: ”As a result of the Summit we are now in concrete dialogues with 5 investors. We expect to have new investors on board in the spring 2018. Besides we have been approved to an InnoBooster through Innovation Fund Denmark. The investments will help us to speed up our development. Right now we are building our robot version 1.0, which will be tested by our customers from February 2018. And we expect to sell our first products in Q2 2018. This couldn’t have happened without the connections we made at Odense Investor Summit.”
The robotic industry is growing and investors’ interest in this industry has rapidly increased the last couple of years. Andrea Forni, CEO at InvestiRobot, knows a lot about this growing industry and travelled from Italy to Odense, to attend the Investor Summit. He was impressed: “I help Italian robotics startups findi foreign investors and business partners and now I am looking for new qualified partnerships abroad to provide more chances to my clients. Odense earned a great reputation in robotics and what I saw during my visit really surprised me: highly professional people, a willingness to create an international pole of excellence in robotics, great potential to attract investors and highly motivated robotics startups with some great products that could find a market in Italy”. Andrea Forni is also the author of the book “Robots. The New Era – living, working, investing in the robotics society of the future”, which is the first book on investing in robotics ever published.
The Investor Summit was held in close cooperation with Business Angel Syddanmark and Nordea as well as several other Partners from the ecosystem centered around the new business clusters in robotics, drone technology and health technology. As one of the partners, we are very happy that the Danish Technological Institute supported the event and presented for a selected group of Investors.
We would like to thank both our partners and investors for being a part of Odense Investor Summit 2017!
