Evosep expands into a new facility
In an exciting development for Odense’s life science sector, Evosep is relocating to new premises in Odense, aiming to increase both production and laboratory capacity.
Outgrow existing building
Evosep has emerged from the biotech and life sciences environment in Odense and is now leading the standardization of proteomics for clinical use. In 2023, Evosep reached a significant milestone with a $40 million investment from Novo Holdings, a leading international life science investor.
This investment has enabled Evosep to expand its global presence, particularly in the rapidly growing US market, offering more customers robust, high-throughput proteomics solutions. As a result, Evosep has experienced growth and outgrown its current headquarters. Morten Bern, CEO Evosep sees opportunities for more staff and better facilities in the new headquarters.
“The new facility can accommodate up to 120 employees, and we expect to increase both production and laboratory capacity. There are excellent growth opportunities in the new facility, which still ensure proximity to Odense city center, the new University Hospital, and the University of Southern Denmark, with which we have a close collaboration.”
The future of life science in Odense
In the last three years alone, over 2 billion euros have been invested in Odense’s life science and biotech industry, providing a strong foundation for future growth. The industry employs more than 3,000 people in Odense alone.
With strategic recommendations from the Life Science Council paving the way for sustainable growth, the future in Odense looks promising. The Council has proposed prioritizing funds to create and upgrade critical infrastructure, fast-track permit processes, and develop new designated industrial zones in strategic locations such as Hillerød, Kalundborg, and Odense. These recommendations aim to foster sustainable growth in thriving life sciences environments.
Novo Nordisk’s sign agreement in Odense
Additionally, Novo Nordisk has recently signed an agreement to purchase land in Odense. The agreement includes plans to construct a new production facility in the thriving industrial district of Tietgenbyen, Odense. The anticipation surrounding Novo Nordisk’s expansion highlights Odense’s growing reputation as a significant player in the global life sciences industry.
“I am excited about the development in the biotech and life sciences industry in Odense. Seeing Evosep’s strong development and welcoming Novo Nordisk is gratifying. It pleases me that such innovative companies see good perspectives in Odense, like our strategic position in the country, strong business climate, good educational institutions, and our experience in delivering quality labor.”
Prodly Made in Odense
In the spring, a new community stamp was launched in the city of Odense. Evosep was one of the first companies to join the initiative.
“As a company innovated in Odense, we at Evosep take pride in being part of this vibrant city and its remarkable recent growth. We proudly use ‘Innovated in Odense’, as it provides us with a competitive edge on an international stage. To be ‘Made in Odense, Denmark’ is globally recognised as a mark of quality.”
The ‘Made in Odense’ stamp symbolizes values defining the city’s high status as a hub for new technologies. It represents Odense’s commitment to excellence, creativity, and progress, fostering an ecosystem of innovation and collaboration.
Odense is not just a geographical location; it is a living ecosystem of interactions across businesses, projects, networks, organizations, and communities, promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration. The city is small enough to maintain proximity and team spirit yet large enough to attract innovative companies, unique tourist experiences, attractive workplaces, and vibrant cultural activities.
Companies, clusters, and institutions in Odense can freely use the stamp to brand themselves and Odense as an innovative and attractive city. The stamp is available in different versions, allowing each company to customize. Read more and apply here: https://made-in-odense.dk/
