Autonomous Units robot enhances passenger satisfaction at CPH Airport
The Funen-based robotics company, Autonomous Units, has deployed its advanced screen robot at Denmark’s largest airport. With an average daily passenger flow of 82,000, the robot has significantly increased visibility and boosted passenger satisfaction. The entertainment value has also risen thanks to the robot’s engaging Ping Pong game.
Entertained by a robot
Waiting at the airport just got more fun with Autonomous Units’ robot at CPH Airport. This advanced screen robot entertains passengers with an interactive Ping Pong game while sharing information and promoting commerce.
Since its introduction, 90% of travelers notice the robot, and satisfaction with airport entertainment is 15% higher among those who engage with it. On average, passengers play 174 games daily, making the wait a lot more enjoyable.
“We’ve seen an incredible impact on passenger satisfaction, and the robot has proven to be a game-changer at CPH. We see great potential in using the robot to create even more value. We can integrate commercial logos into the games, display advertisements before and after each game, and on the user’s phone, we can offer everything from a voucher to a link to a relevant website or a brief survey after the game. This provides us with a unique opportunity to engage passengers.”
CPH Airport sees great potential in the robot and plans to add two more units in the coming months to enhance passenger interaction.
In addition to the Ping Pong game, the robot can be used for branding and advertisement integration before, during, and after the game to maximize brand visibility.
We have filled a gap in the market by creating local interaction with the self-driving robot. We call it a local sales funnel, as 90% of passengers passing by notice it – marking the beginning of a new customer journey.”

Robots as part of Odense’s city life
Everyday interactions between citizens and technology, including robots, can challenge preconceptions and foster a more positive outlook on innovation. Over time, this openness paves the way for greater adoption of technology in the future.
This approach is exemplified through several initiatives, such as the establishment of a state-of-the-art Robot School in a low socioeconomic area, an annual Robotics Festival, and the implementation of robotic services and interactive robots throughout the city of Odense. These initiatives demonstrate the city’s commitment to integrating technology and robots into the daily life of its citizens.
“Robots, drones and automation are crucial technologies in solving the future job crisis, one of the largest issues facing humanity in the coming decades. That is part of the reason why we aim to bridge the knowledge gap and show off these technologies in the city.”
Autonomous Units play a significant role in this activation. For example, their Gallery Robot has been featured at several international conferences in the city, including the European Robotics Forum in 2023, the VICTOR Denmark Open, and most recently, during Week 43, where the robot welcomed guests to a ‘Week of Robotics’—a week dedicated to three major robotics conferences in the city.
Autonomous Units is one of over 160 robotics companies that form part of the exceptional robotics ecosystem in Odense. The ecosystem thrives thanks to strong collaborations between local government, academic institutions, and industry leaders. This fosters a unique and innovative environment that is unmatched by only a few cities worldwide.
